Who Sponsors the
Teen Tzedakah Fund?
The Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies and the Bureau of Jewish Education's High School for Jewish Studies provide the opportunity for teens grades 10 - 12 to learn how to become philanthropists in the Teen Tzedakah program.

What is the Teen Tzedakah Fund Program?
A group of teens in grades grades 10 through 12, meet twice a month from January to May, and have the responsibility to give away $10,000 in grants to any charities they select. They explore the needs in the Jewish and non-Jewish community through presentations by agency representatives, site visits, groups discussions and individual research.

Who Contributes to the Teen Tzedakah Fund?
Each teen is expected to make a minimum contribution of $180 and a group of anonymous Foundation donors make matching gifts to fund the program.

What are the Objectives of the Teen Tzedakah Fund?

  • To teach the importance of Tzedakah
  • To help young people make informed choices about giving
  • To expose our youth to the needs of the community, both Jewish and non-Jewish
  • To develop leadership skills
